Environmental issues affect communities who want their opinions and concerns heard. Decision-makers increasingly recognise that community input improves the quality and durability of decision making.
Effective consultation with communities is more than public meetings or opinion polls - it must understand community aspirations and ensure the diversity of community views is represented.
We are independent researchers so come to issues without a vested interest. We undertake consultation with communities large and small to ensure all points of view are included.
We do use public meetings and opinion polls but we also use other methods to go deeper to understand the drivers of community concerns and how these can best be addressed.
To consult with communities we use multiple channels of communication to firstly raise awareness of the consultation and then to effectively engage with the community. This includes both traditional and digital communication to reach all sectors of the community .
